SCOPH: Standing Committee on Public Health

About Us

SCOPH is one of the six standing committees within LeMSIC.

SCOPH aims to address all kinds of issues related to public health through activities developed to promote public awareness. Through the use of interactive multimedia presentations at schools, universities, and public centers,SCOPH seeks to educate the public about important health issues with the aim of promoting awareness and responsibility. Various means of media are being used including posters, brochures, leaflets, seminars, roundtables, conferences, and most importantly, peer education.

In addition, SCOPH helps medical students get practical experience in public health by participating in different projects through organizing and participating in activities, as well as giving presentations during educational sessions.

SCOPH is generally a lot of fun and a place where medical students have the opportunity work as a team toward a common purpose: the promotion of public health.

"Our mission is to offer future physicians a comprehensive introduction to global health issues. Through our programming and opportunities, we develop culturally sensitive students of medicine, intent on influencing the transnational inequalities that shape the health of our planet." - IFMSA
