THE WORKSHOP
This is an annual event that has been taking place for the past seven years.
This is a workshop sponsored so far by the National AIDS Program (NAP) and the USFC (University Student-Faculty Committee) of AUB. It is organized by our members and its goal is to recruit and train new peer educators. Peer educators, are young people who target a group of people of their own age and teach them information about certain topics in a friendly manner.
Our workshop consists of a series of lectures about HIV/AIDS given by AUB doctors plus a 5-hour workshop where these newcomers are trained, by the now experienced peer educators and other members of the National AIDS programm (NAP) and the lebanese AIDS Society (LAS), on the techniques of teaching others.
After completion of this workshop and attending atleast 2 SCORA lectures, these youngsters are equiped with the skills, the knowledge and a Peer-educator's diploma to go out and start giving lectures of their own.
