Outgoing Exchange Students
Each year SCORE has 10-14 bilateral contracts which are distributed to Medical Students via a draw. Active committee members have a priority when it comes to contract distribution. Otherwise all medical students have equal chances of securing an exchange.
The distribution of contracts takes place via a draw which usually takes place late November or early December. It is announced beforehand both via posters and verbal announcements in classes.
If you're unable to secure a bilateral exchange or you have a different country in mind you can contact the NORE (See the committee page) to see if it is possible to secure a unilateral. According to SCORE bylaws, the number of unilateral contracts cannot exceed 40% of the total number of contracts, so it might not always be possible to accommodate all requests.
Bilateral Vs. Unilateral Contract:
A bilateral contract is one which allows the two countries to exchange students, each sending one. Thus the student from each side ends up paying a fee predetermined by the respective committee which in Lebanon is 150$.
If you travel on a unilateral contract you will have to pay for your expenses in the hosting country which will be in the range of $300-$400.
In both cases the fee you pay covers your board, lodging and the social program if one is provided. The plane ticket is at your expense.
If you have been lucky to get hold of a SCORE contract you should visit the Application Timeline.
