– Students are required to attend a minimum of 6 hours a day, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Please note that your exact schedule (including attendance) will be set by the department. If a student does not respect the working conditions of the department, the clerkship – including boarding and lodging – will be terminated.

– To acquire the IFMSA certificate, the student must have completed 80% of his clerkship and must have filled the ifmsa.org evaluation form.

Students are not covered by malpractice insurance in Lebanese hospitals. As such, STUDENTS ARE MAINLY OBSERVERS.

Application documents and deadlines

The standard documents are the basic documents that the students are asking for and the special documents are less important, as only some Local Committees ask for them. So it's mandatory to upload the standard documents, but not the special ones. (Students do it when asked for by the LEO/NEO.)

The upon arrival documents are hard copies documents that the students are requested to take with them in the host country.

Special remarks:

For the summer months (July and August): Complete eAFs must be submitted before the March meeting. Any AF missing essential documents will be considered invalid and will be returned without saving a spot for the student. Please note that exchanges during summer months are calendar months ONLY. No exceptions can be made.

For the remaining months: Complete eAFs must be submitted at least 4 months prior to the start of the exchange. Exchanges during these months are also calendar months unless an exception was accepted by the NEO-In.

Please note that a specific number of spots is available in each month and so acceptance is on a "first come – first served" basis.

Please note that the department of Gynaecology/Obstetrics at Makassed General Hospital only allows for FEMALE applicants ONLY.

Card of acceptance: 8 weeks in advance

Special remarks:

The CA will be sent 8 weeks in advance. If the CA is not sent on time, please email the NEO-In.

Note that we only provide lodging for the mentioned period in the CA. If the student wishes to arrive before or stay after this period, the student must email the NEO-In and LEO to ask their permission.

Card of confirmation: 4 weeks in advance

Special remarks:

The CC must be sent at least 4 weeks in advance. Students must specify their exact date and time of arrival as well as their flight number in their CC. – If the student does not send any answer at least 2 weeks before the beginning of the clerkship, the clerkship will be cancelled.

Social Program details

A free social program is provided to all the incomings for July & August.
There is no social program in the other months, but the SCOPE local teams are always available for help and guidance.

 

Substitutions

  • Substitute student’s documents’ should be sent to Incoming NEO
  • Substitutions can be made until few weeks before clerkship starts
  • We prefer substitutions to cancellations

Global special remarks

Special remarks:

Cities: The list mentioned are hospitals available for the student's clerkship. Please note that all of these hospitals are situated in the Greater Beirut Area.

Boarding: 2-3 free meals per day are provided at the hospital.

Unilateral Fee: Our stable fee is 500 USD; the price in Euro fluctuates according to currency rate variations. Students are kindly asked to pay the unilateral fee to the NEO-In upon arrival and in USD.

Visas: Students need to get their visas from the Lebanese Embassy in their country. We do not apply for students nor have detailed information regarding the application process of each country. As such, the student is kindly asked to check the following Lebanese General Security website for further information: www.general-security.gov.lb
